Woolman Arts

Woolman Arts emerged with the belief that being creative is a defining feature of being human. Our ability to be creative can spark joy, solve problems, connect people, offer unique perspectives and give new voice.

Woolman Arts is a multifaceted, evolving program that serves to support and nurture creative exploration and expression among artists of all ages and skill levels. This program currently consists of adult and youth workshops, after-school programming, and a spring break day camp.
Adult and youth workshops are offered throughout the year, incorporating multidisciplinary exploration and skill-building activities that encourage play, focused practice and connection with fellow creatives. Workshops at Woolman are led by teaching artists, educators and professionals and are a wonderful place to try something new or expand upon a current interest. Workshops change seasonally, view and register for current offerings HERE.

Launching in January 2023, Elemental After School is dedicated to creative exploration in an outdoor setting. Activities are rooted in the elements: Earth, Air, Fire and Water and incorporate experiential learning, using natural materials, collaborative building, skills development, and connection to the land through individual and group projects. Make new friends, learn new skills, get creative, explore nature!

Woolman’s 240-acre rural camp setting, including forest, trails, streams, and an organic farm, provides a backdrop for activities including art, cooking, craft, science, games, building, exploring, storytelling, gardening & play! We are proud to have a rotating group of guest experts join us alongside regular after-school staff once a month to share their skills, think local craftspeople, beekeepers, farmers, storytellers, artists, and more! Kids age 6-12 may sign up for 4 90-minute sessions per month, September-May.

Elemental Day Camp is an intensive version of Woolman’s year-round after school programming. Kids age 6-12 can come to Woolman for 5 fun-packed days of creative expression, nature exploration, individual and group projects. Several guest creatives will join us to lead activities in a variety of mediums and participants will have the opportunity to enjoy Woolman’s 240-acre campus!

Elemental After School is made possible in part by funding from the California Arts Council.

Full and partial scholarships are available for this program.
